When I Was a Baby: Day 3

on August 29, 2014

We had puzzles and blocks for sign in. Tracing and lowercase letters are improving. We went through our morning routine and then moved onto the theme, kind of reviewing what they’d done the previous two days. I had pictures of their mommies and me as babies and was curious to see if they could guess, but everybody thought mine was their mom. Pooh and Uniqua’s baby siblings were a great resource for discussion. Pooh’s sister stayed with us today– she needs a name!

We then used the picture cards for a couple of activities. A poem from this blog

http://nuttinbutpreschool.com/babies-lesson-plan and then we sorted the cards into  those with Bb sounds–lots of baby words start with B.

I found this cute book at this site http://kidsparkz.com/babiestheme.html. They were able to “read” it and then drew their own last page.

We also read this book.2014-08-29 09.49.48 and they had fun with the sounds the baby couldn’t say.

It was nostalgic (for me, not them) to look at this picture of Pooh’s mom in my blessing dress and talk about their aunty who also wore it.

2014-08-29 11.45.20 We took a snack break to taste baby food. Two chicks were game to taste everything and took seconds of the berry-applesauce. The other two tasted the sauce, but stuck with the puffs. Banana custard was not a hit.2014-08-29 10.18.50 2014-08-29 10.18.59

The chicks enjoyed this take-off on “Five Little Pumpkins” that I got here http://melissa.depperfamily.net/blog.

I found out they’d played the feel and guess game the first two days, so we played “guess what’s missing” instead.

“Recess” was the water table, which kept everybody happy for quite awhile.

I’ve had these little wooden stick puppet for a couple of years, trying to find something to do with them, so with the stick sawed off they were just the right size to use like paper dolls. The chicks decorated blankets to wrap their babies in.
