Nursery Rhymes-Day 3

This was Hal’s and A.A. Milne’s birthdays, so we stretched our nursery rhymes theme a little and did a little A.A. Milne party.  We missed Pooh today.  She couldn’t make it. I know, of all days for her to miss.  We started with the Happy Birthday.  If you know Hal, you know she wasn’t going to share her song with A.A. Milne or anyone else, so we just sang to her.IMG_6053

Then we read a couple of poems by A.A. Milne.  I didn’t realize he wrote so much more than the Winne the Pooh stories. We read At the Zoo and In the Dark, both very cute. At the Zoo repeats a line that says “But I give buns to the elephants when I go down to the Zoo.” so we made elephants that I found on the Disney Spoonful website.  It was mostly made of hearts and they used a pencil to curl the trunk.  IMG_6055 IMG_6057 IMG_6058 IMG_6059Since it was a birthday party we played pin the tail on the donkey.  I found this cute Eeyore on spoonful.  The chicks cheated a little.  There was a little bit of peeking.  Of course the competition set in and they had to try again to see if they could get closer.IMG_6060 IMG_6062 IMG_6063Hal’s dad picked up pizza for birthday lunch.  These three little chicks finished a whole pizza all by themselves.  They watched Winne the Pooh while they ate.  I love this movie.IMG_6067After lunch we went on an “expotition” with maps of the  100 Aker Wood.  Without any prompting they set out to find the different landmarks on the map.  The kukui nut tree was Piglet’s house on the way out and Owl’s house on the way back.  IMG_6071 IMG_6069While I was preparing for this day I found a bunch of quotes I love:

“Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?”

“Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them.”

“When Rabbit said, `Honey or condensed milk with your bread?’ he was so excited that he said, `Both,’ and then, so as not to seem greedy, he added, `But don’t bother about the bread, please.’”

“One of the advantages of being disorganized is that one is always having surprising discoveries.”

If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.
